Ethiopia launches first Pan-African Conference on Girls and Women’s Education
The nation is developing long-term educational frameworks to expand learning opportunities throughout Africa
The inaugural Pan-African Conference on Girls’ and Women’s Education was held at the African Union’s (AU) headquarters in Addis Ababa. This is reported by
ENA.
The four-day conference is being held under the theme “Prioritising girls’ and women’s education: A strategy for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa.”.
Professor Mohammed Belhocine, Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation of the African Union, pointed out that addressing the majority of the continent’s difficulties mostly depends on having access to inclusive and high-quality learning.
The event is being conducted in honour of 2024 being the African Union’s Year of Education.
The source claims that the delegates plan to evaluate women’s and girls’ education in Africa as a whole, support financing for women’s education more, and bolster support for the high-level adoption of frameworks and policies that redefine gender roles.
