India held its concluding G20 Presidency summit online

Dignitaries from G20 countries delivered speeches at the event

A virtual G20 summit was held on 22 November where representatives of the G20 countries delivered speeches. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the event. This is reported by
ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

In his speech at the G20 Leaders Virtual Summit, Modi emphasised the importance of responsible use of technology and announced $25 million for digital public infrastructure. He also proposed a social impact fund for niche development in the Global South.

The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of protecting the environment by using alternative fuels. He emphasised that the Global Biofuels Alliance is India’s priority in the G20.

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the readiness to co-operate with the G20 and other international institutions to address pressing issues on the global agenda. The Russian leader paid special attention to the growing weight and influence of BRICS.

In addition, Putin noted that Russia will continue to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of China, addressed the summit from the Chinese side. He assured that China is ready to co-operate and move forward, develop multilateralism and pay attention to the interests of developing countries.

Thus, the country will continue to make efforts to revitalise the global economy.

India assumed the presidency of the G20 on 1 December 2022. In 2024, the G20 leaders’ summit will be held in Rio de Janeiro under the Brazilian presidency.

In his closing speech, Modi expressed confidence that the G20 will continue to evolve under the Brazilian presidency and that countries will prioritise food security, health and sustainable development.

The G20 is the premier forum for international economic co-operation. The group brings together the world’s leading economies to ensure global stability in the sector and sustainable development.
