The Umkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) will unveil its mayoral candidates for eight metropolitan municipalities in the next two weeks.
The party’s Secretary General, Sibonelo Nomvalo, announced this during a press briefing in Johannesburg.
He says the candidates that will be selected must be trusted, known and chosen by the communities they will represent.
He added that they must be of good moral and ethical standing and possess the skills to deliver services.

The party has previously stated that it would be contesting all the country’s municipal wards in the 2026 local government elections.
“The leadership of uMkhonto weSizwe will be making a public announcement of the candidates who will be representing the party in the eight metropolitan municipalities in South Africa (eThekwini, Mangaung, Buffalo City, Tshwane, City of Cape Town, Nelson Mandela Bay, Ekurhuleni, and City of Johannesburg) within the next two weeks,” says Nomvalo.
