Russia and Brazil revise the schedule of contacts taking into account BRICS and G20 presidencies

G20 meetings are taking place in Rio de Janeiro

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Brazilian counterpart Mauro Vieira reviewed the schedule of contacts at various levels, taking into account the BRICS and G20 presidencies. This is reported by Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.

“An interested exchange of views on topical issues of bilateral and international agendas was held, the schedule of contacts at various levels was considered, including taking into account the cross presidencies of the two countries in BRICS and the G20 this year,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement following the G20 meeting.

Lavrov also emphasised the importance of including countries of the global South in the G20.

“Last year at the leaders’ summit in New Delhi, we agreed that the strengthening of global institutions should come at the expense of strengthening the voice of developing countries of the global majority. Afro-Union has joined our ranks. I believe that we should not stop here and involve the leading integration structures of other regions of the global South in our work on an equal footing”
