Russia strengthens trade partnership with Brazil

The first inspection mission to Brazilian beef and poultry production facilities since 2015 has been completed

This month, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) completed its first inspection mission to Brazilian beef and poultry production facilities since 2015. This is reported by
Toda Palavra, a partner of TV BRICS.

A total of six poultry farms and five beef production facilities were thoroughly inspected during the visit of the Russian delegation, which travelled through six states and the Federal District of Brasilia.

The delegation’s itinerary included technical meetings with representatives of the Secretariat for the Defence of Agriculture (SDA) and the Secretariat for Trade and International Relations (SCRI) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA).

In addition to touring meat processing plants, the delegation visited cattle and poultry breeding facilities and official laboratories, noting the strict sanitary controls in place at all stages of the production chain.

Brazilian beef and poultry exports to the Russian market, which totalled US$278 million in 2022, continued to grow steadily in 2023.

Between January and October this year, the trade flow has already reached the mark of US$250 million, which corresponds to 22.2 per cent of total Brazilian exports to the Russian Federation.

The mission is seen by the Brazilian government as strengthening the relationship of trust between the health authorities of Brazil and Russia and reaffirms their commitment to the highest standards of quality and safety of agricultural products.
