The educational expedition of the programme “Russian Language Ambassadors in the World” was held in Vietnam from October 23 to December 2. Its goal was to stimulate the interest of Vietnamese youth in the Russian language and culture, as well as to strengthen ties between the two countries.

The information partners of the expedition are TV BRICS and Eurasia Today.

For six weeks, volunteers Polina Dorozhkina, a student of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, and teacher Anna Listova conducted interactive classes for students and schoolchildren from different provinces of Vietnam.

“Every day of the expedition in Vietnam was intense. We not only taught classes and prepared for them, but also participated in official events, met with representatives of state structures, science and culture, and got to know the country. For us it is a valuable experience of volunteer and pedagogical activity, intercultural communication and international diplomacy. I am sure that the knowledge and skills acquired during the expedition will be useful in the professional sphere and in solving other tasks in life,” said Anna Listova.

Polina Dorozhkina is sure that the most valuable thing for the ambassadors is the interest that the children show in both the Russian language and Russia.

“It manifests itself even in details: in the decoration of the classroom wall with drawings of symbols of our country, in questions about admission to higher education institutions in Moscow, in the desire to try Russian cuisine. We found this response not only in the classrooms: after hearing Russian speech, foreigners came up to us and told us that they were learning Russian now or had learnt it at school <…>,” she shared.

Now the project volunteers are working in two countries at once – Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. These expeditions will end on 9 and 10 December respectively.
