Vladimir Putil holds talks with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi

The meeting was held in the Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in Moscow on 7 December. The heads of state discussed the development of bilateral cooperation.

Vladimir Putin said that the conclusion of a free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran at the end of December will create new opportunities for the development of cooperation between the two countries. This is reported by
TASS.

The Russian president also noted that the countries regularly hold talks on the implementation of projects in different fields:

“We have big infrastructure projects. We have been discussing for a long time and now we have moved to the practical implementation of the construction of the North-South railway.”

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said these talks will help create favourable conditions for the implementation of the planned projects:

“I think today’s talks can help create new favourable conditions for the implementation of the potential opportunities that our countries have,” Raisi said.

Both Iran and Russia are OPEC+ members, and Iran has also been invited to join the BRICS economic bloc. Iran’s official inclusion in the association is scheduled for 1 January 2024.]
