Saudi Arabia advances in implementing Arabic language in AI
The first centre specialising in automated Arabic language processing has been launched in Riyadh, led by the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language.
The main objective of the centre is to increase the availability of Arabic content in the fields of data and artificial intelligence, and to support research and development to achieve the goals of the National Strategy for Data and Artificial Intelligence and Saudi Vision 2030.
Abdullah Al-Washmi, secretary-general of the academy noted that the centre’s success depends on its strategic goal of promoting innovation in Arabic and the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies locally and globally. This is reported by

The centre brings together Arabic language and technology experts with a common interest in the development of this language. To achieve its goals, the centre will promote artificial intelligence-based innovations, develop applications and certify specialists in the field of automated Arabic language processing according to international standards.
The centre comprises five key laboratories: artificial intelligence, data formatting, audio and visual data, virtual and augmented reality, and researchers. They deal with various aspects of Arabic language processing and Arabic software development using the latest technologies.
