The 3rd Global Innovative Media Forum discusses shared responsibility in use of artificial intelligence
Industry experts, media and business representatives expressed their views on the risks and potential of AI
Guests and participants of the 3rd Global Media Innovation Forum (CMG Forum) in Beijing discussed the application of artificial intelligence. The event was organised by China Media Group, a Chinese state-owned media company, and its motto was “A force for good: shared responsibility in AI”.
The media forum was attended by Janna Tolstikova, CEO of TV BRICS, and Daria Ivankova, Director of the Media Network’s International Cooperation Department.
Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, opened the forum with a speech in which he paid much attention to the potential and risks of using AI in the future.
More than 200 representatives from international organisations, media, think tanks and multinational companies exchanged views on how to incorporate AI into work processes. They urged media players to use the technology to create positive and high-quality content, and to promote international exchanges and co-operation on AI management.
CEO of TV BRICS Janna Tolstikova and other industry representatives expressed their views on the use of AI.
“It is impossible to deny the huge impact of artificial intelligence on industry, economy, and social processes in the 21st century. We see how the desire for further development motivates all of us to look for new tools, and AI, helping to save time, is becoming a driver of progress. TV BRICS as an International Media Network faces challenges in language adaptation of content, and we are using AI to translate videos. Our employees can attest that AI greatly simplifies the dubbing process. TV BRICS has previously interacted with CCTV and CGTN teams in the production of joint programmes, but we believe that sharing the experience of using AI with Chinese partners can take cooperation to a new level”

“The only right choice is to consider possible risks and adapt to changes. We must use AI for the benefit of society and jointly create a valuable product. We must adhere to the principles of safety and manageability of AI-based technologies,” said Shen Haixiong, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and director of China Central Radio and Television.
“Artificial intelligence is becoming part of many areas of life at an incredible speed. In order to make the world a better place through AI and sports, we should all move faster, aim higher, and be stronger. And most importantly, we should do everything together,” said Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, in a video message.
TV BRICS already has experience of introducing AI into the work of various sections of the portal, for example, BRICS View. It publishes short news and facts about the cultural peculiarities of the BRICS countries in video format. The staff of the media network uses AI-based software to duplicate
videos, which helps to simplify and speed up the process. In addition, TV BRICS uses artificial intelligence to create screensavers for TV programmes and illustrations for the website’s text materials.
