South Africa’s city beaches declared safe for swimming

According to the mayor of the municipality, Mxolisi Kaunda, the results of tests conducted by the Institute for Water and Wastewater Technology (IWWT) of the Durban University of Technology (DUT) have shown an improvement in the water quality of the beaches. This is reported by
Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.

“The results of analyses carried out as part of the weekly routine testing showed that 20 of the 23 beaches meet acceptable standards for bathing,” said Mxolisi Kaunda.

The mayor recalled that the city has a team of experts who constantly test the quality of the water in the laboratory.

If the results turn out to be bad, the team of environmental specialists will find out what was the source of contamination for further work on the elimination of pollution, he explained.
