St. Petersburg to host IV Eurasian Women’s Forum

Part of the programme will be devoted to BRICS cooperation

The IV Eurasian Women’s Forum (EWF) will be held in St. Petersburg from 18 to 20 September. TV BRICS will be a media partner of the event.

The Forum is organised by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations. The operator is the Roscongress Foundation.

According to the organisers, the Eurasian Women’s Forum is the largest international platform for dialogue between women leaders from all continents. The EWF is held to find joint answers to the urgent challenges of our time. Representatives of parliaments and governments, scientific community and public organisations, businesswomen and opinion leaders participate in the forum.

“The Eurasian Women’s Forum is a unifying platform where participants discuss interesting projects and develop proposals based on the principles of equal partnership, friendship and mutual understanding. This is especially important today, when a fair multipolar world order is being formed”

Valentina Matvienko Federation Council Speaker

The main theme of this year’s Forum is “Women for Strengthening Trust and Global Cooperation”. A plenary session will be devoted to it.

The business programme is very extensive – more than 100 events and five thematic platforms. Forum participants will discuss women’s contribution to the formation of the modern international agenda, development of technologies, ensuring social well-being and stability of society, solving problems of ecology and food security, preservation of traditions and cultural diversity. The first two days of the forum will be devoted to these discussions.

The BRICS Women’s Forum will take place on the final day. The strategic session will discuss cooperation within the BRICS group and its development prospects. A meeting of the BRICS Civil Council and a meeting of environmental bloggers are also scheduled. Separate sessions will be devoted to the energy transition and the development of the agro-industrial complex. There will also be flash mobs, presentations and exhibitions dedicated to the cultural heritage and future projects of the BRICS countries.

On the same day, an award ceremony will be held to honour the winners of the Eurasian Women’s Forum “Public Recognition” Award.

The Forum’s cultural programme will be remembered by its participants with a gala concert, which will be held at the Historical Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.

The Eurasian Women’s Forum has been organised since 2015. In 2021, it gathered about 2.5 thousand women representatives from 111 countries and 23 international organisations. More than 3 million people participated in or watched the Forum’s events in the online format.
