The affordable airfare programme will be launched on 5 February in Brazil

Under the Voa Brasil initiative, airline tickets will be sold at a fixed price of $200

From February 5, the Brazilian federal government will launch the Voa Brasil programme, under which airline tickets will be sold at a fixed price of $200 ($40,5). The launch ceremony will be held at the Planalto Palace in Brasilia. It will be attended by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

In the first phase, air tickets for $200 (US$40,5) will be offered to pensioners who have not travelled in the last twelve months, as well as students participating in the University for All (ProUni) programme.

According to the update, the Voa Brasil promotion will involve the main players in the Brazilian aviation sector, which accounts for about 98 per cent of domestic flights. This is reported by
Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.

“The airlines plan to make about six million air tickets available during the year. The price will be fixed for flights to any city, but not all destinations will be available initially,” the report emphasises.
