BRICS health action plans presented in Geneva

The event was attended by all BRICS+ members⁠

The 154th session of the WHO Executive Board is taking place in Geneva from 22 to 27 January. Oleg Salagai, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Health of Russia, presented the BRICS Health Action Plan 2024 at a briefing for the delegations of the BRICS member countries.

With new countries joining the association, Russia, as the chairing country, faces the task of involving Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia in the ongoing work on health care.

The aim of the current Russian meeting was to present the areas of co-operation in the field of health within the framework of the Russian BRICS chairmanship in 2024. This is reported on the official
website of the Russian Ministry of Health.

The session presented new activities to promote Russian initiatives in the field of health care – holding the BRICS International Forum on Nuclear Medicine and the International Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance, creation of the BRICS Scientific Medical Journal, formation of the BRICS Medical Association, promotion of the Integrated System of Early Warning of Risks of Mass Infectious Diseases, discussion of further functioning of the BRICS Vaccine Centre, continuation of the activities of the BRICS Research and Development Centre, and the BRICS Medical Association.

A total of 15 BRICS health-related meetings are scheduled for this year in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kazan.
