The President of Brazil has announces the imminent launch of a programme aimed at helping the poor

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said that there are buildings that can be converted into housing, as well as buildings that must be sold to generate more funds for other projects.

The statement was made at the 20th Christmas waste pickers’ action, which was held in the Brazilian capital Brasilia. This is reported by
Toda Palavra, a partner of TV BRICS.

The President directed the Minister of Governance and Innovation in Public Services, Esther Dweck, to distribute unutilised federal assets.

Minister Esther Dweck said the initiative is in line with the objective set by the President at the beginning of his presidency to make inactive federal assets available for social use as part of the future programme for the democratisation of federal property, which will be formalised in 2024.

She noted that a lot of work has already been done to map all available property and identify the needs of the Brazilian population for housing, educational and health facilities.
