Theft of cocaine from Hawks premises in KZN was by design: Flynn

Hawks Head of Serious Organised Crime Investigations Hendrik Flynn has told the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry that the theft of cocaine from Hawks premises in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), was by design.

Flynn has concluded his testimony for the day and is expected to return to the commission on Wednesday.

Commission Chairperson, Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, has described the sequence of events leading up to the theft as a “comedy of errors.”

“The cocaine was not stored at the Maiden Wharf, at Brighton Beach, at Mbilo, or at Durban Central, the furthest of which is Durban Central (which) is only 24 kilometers from Isipingo. Fifth, there is no explanation why the Port Shepston storage, which is 100 kilometers from Isipingo, was chosen. And sixth, on your evidence, General Senona did not follow the prescripts with regard to the handling of keys.”
