Tunisian government signs agreement with Chinese company to build bridge in Bizerte

The facility could help boost trade between Tunisia, Algeria and Libya

Tunisian Public Works Ministry official Slah Zouari and the CEO of a Chinese company have signed an agreement worth US$240 million to build the main section of the new Bizerte Bridge in the African country. This is reported by
Tunis Afrique Presse, a partner of TV BRICS.

The signing ceremony was attended by representatives of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the African Development Bank (AfDB).

The initiative aims to improve mobility and quality of life for the region’s residents.

Tunisia’s Public Works and Housing Minister, Sarra Zaafrani Zanzri, said the bridge will help increase trade between Tunisia, Algeria and Libya.

AfDB Deputy Director General for North Africa Malinne Blomberg noted the strategic importance of the bridge under construction, which will enhance the competitiveness of the region and the country, boost trade with neighbouring countries and create jobs.
