Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi discuss implementation of infrastructure projects

The leaders confirmed by phone the readiness of the two countries to develop co-operation in various spheres

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi had a telephone conversation at the initiative of the Iranian side. This is reported by the official
website of the President of the Russian Federation.

The parties discussed topical issues of bilateral relations and expressed their intention to further develop cooperation in various areas, including the implementation of mutually beneficial infrastructure projects.

Vladimir Putin congratulated Ebrahim Raisi and all Muslims of Iran on the end of the holy month of
Ramadan and the past holiday of Eid al-Fitr.

Iran joined BRICS on 1 January 2024. The republic received an offer to become part of the group following a summit in Johannesburg in August 2023. Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates also received invitations. Argentina later declined to join the association.

In March 2024, Iran’s president called joining BRICS an important achievement in the country’s foreign policy. The republic is going to participate at the highest level in all BRICS events in Russia this year, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said. He added that the two countries help each other in shaping a multipolar world.
