Wang Yi: China firmly supports Brazil in accelerating economic and social development
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said this during his meeting with Brazilian President
China’s visiting Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in Fortaleza. During the meeting, the two sides praised the China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership relationship.
The Chinese diplomat emphasised that the PRC firmly supports Brazil in accelerating socio-economic development as well as enhancing its role in international and regional affairs.
The PRC is willing to view the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to fulfil the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen high-level exchanges and deepen strategic communication.
In addition, the Chinese minister added that the two sides should actively explore and deepen comprehensive cooperation between China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), as well as between the PRC and the sub-regional South American trade and economic association (MERCOSUR).
For his part, Lula da Silva mentioned that he attaches great importance to mutual trust and friendship with Xi Jinping and hopes to strengthen high-level bilateral exchanges, as well as to take the Brazil-China comprehensive strategic partnership relationship to a new height.
In addition, he noted that Brazil welcomes more investment by Chinese enterprises in the country.
During the visit, Wang Yi also met with Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin and Brazilian Presidential Chief Advisor Celso Amorim, and together with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, held the 4th China-Brazil Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue at the level of foreign ministers.
