In the framework of the Commemoration on the 213th Anniversary of Venezuelan Independence, the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to South Africa invited distinguished guests, Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and Heads of Missions to lay a wreath at the bust of the Liberator Simon Bolivar at the Pretoria Art Museum, Pretoria, South Africa.
The function began with the singing of the national anthems of both countries, followed by a short talk given by Mr. Omar González, Chargé d’Affaires of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in South Africa, and Mr. Mzolisa Bona, Chief Director for Europe and Latin America. The function ended with cocktails.
Simón Bolívar, born on July 24, 1783, in Caracas, Venezuela, is one of Latin America’s most revered figures. Known as “El Libertador” (The Liberator), Bolívar played a pivotal role in the independence movements across several South American countries during the early 19th century.
