Rio de Janeiro presents literary tourism routes using mobile technology

Such projects open up new opportunities for tourism and demonstrate the potential of innovation in improving the country’s reputation

Gilberto Gil, renowned composer and member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, took part in the launch of two new tourist routes in Rio de Janeiro.

The project will allow tourists to use mobile apps in several languages to walk around the city and discover the pages of Brazilian literature. This is reported by
Toda Palavra, a partner of TV BRICS.

The walks will lead those interested to the pages of works by famous authors such as Machado de Assis, Clarice Lispector, Carlos Drummond Andrade, Lima Barreto, Tom Jobim and others. Gilberto Gil stressed the importance of using technology to enrich travellers’ experiences and share information.

The work to promote literary tourism using modern technology will continue so that travellers can gain a deeper insight into the culture and history of Brazil.
