Vietnam’s coffee exports to Thailand recorded solid growth in the first quarter of 2026, reflecting a clear shift in demand towards roasted and processed products, as reported by
Vietnam News Agency (VNA), a partner of TV BRICS.
According to the source, exports reached around 9,900 tonnes worth US$80.6 million, up 22.5 per cent in volume and 28.7 per cent in value year-on-year.
Data from the Ministry of Industry and Trade shows that processed coffee accounted for 83.6 per cent of Vietnam’s export revenue to Thailand in the first two months of the year. Demand has been supported by growing consumer interest in roasted and ground coffee, espresso-based drinks and speciality varieties, particularly in urban centres.
Market expansion has been reinforced by the development of modern coffee chains across Bangkok, Chiang Mai and other tourist destinations, which has increased demand for traceable and higher-quality products. Vietnam’s share of Thailand’s coffee imports has also risen to 35.7 per cent over the past year, up from 24.2 per cent.
Industry projections indicate that coffee consumption in Thailand could grow by 7–8 per cent annually through 2032, potentially exceeding 120,000 tonnes. Vietnam’s competitive position is supported by regional logistics advantages and trade frameworks within ASEAN, while exporters continue to target value-added segments such as roasted coffee, instant products and private labels.
